ETIKA KOMUNIKASI WHATSAPP DAN JARAK SOSIAL PADA GENERASI MILENIAL

The rapid advancement of communication technology has an impact on cultural change. Conventional communication culture considers and maintains the values and norms of social ethics, and uses standard Indonesian. In the new media era, communication has become more relaxed and lighter, does not always use standard language, and ignores aspects of values, norms and the ethics of communication. Often we see people who are physically close together (gathered in one location), but each is busy interacting in cyberspace. This research uses a qualitative approach, and data collection is done through interviews, observations and content analysis on the contents of online messages. The results of the study prove that communication using WA is no longer bound by communication ethics. Communication with WA facilitates communication and eliminates physical distance barriers. But it also makes close physical distance far because each of them is busy with their activities in cyberspace.
